Keen to sustain tourism momentum amid regional uncertainty, Dubai’s Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) on 22 July 2026 unveiled “A Dubai Invite”, a city-ambassador programme that turns the emirate’s 3.6 million residents into micro-influencers. Until 31 October 2026, citizens and expatriates aged 18 plus can register friends or relatives arriving from abroad and unlock vouchers worth over AED 3,000 (≈ €716) that cover hotel nights, dining, theme-park tickets and cultural attractions. The concept borrows from referral marketing: once a resident uploads guest passport and flight details on the dedicated portal, both host and visitor receive QR-coded benefits that can be redeemed across more than 100 partner brands, including Jumeirah Hotels, Emaar Entertainment and RTA’s hop-on buses. DET says the goal is to “empower those who know the city best” and counter the drop in regional arrivals linked to the Iran–US escalation earlier this year. For global-mobility and relocation teams, the initiative is more than a tourism gimmick. Companies can encourage new hires to register under the scheme, easing first-time accommodation costs and accelerating social integration. Event planners attending GITEX or COP 29 can also bundle the perks into delegate packages, effectively lowering the total cost of attendance by up to 8 %, according to Dubai-based TMCs. Legal advisers confirm that participation does not affect visa status: guests still need the appropriate entry permit (tourist, visit or visa-on-arrival), and overstays void the rewards. Data-privacy lawyers note that the platform is hosted on Dubai Digital Authority servers and complies with the 2025 Personal Data Protection Law; however, companies should obtain employee consent before uploading passport data. DET will track KPIs such as average length of stay and visitor spend to decide whether to extend the programme into 2027. If successful, analysts expect Abu Dhabi and Ras Al Khaimah to roll out similar ambassador schemes, potentially creating an inter-emirate rewards ecosystem that further bolsters the UAE’s appeal to international travellers.
