Border officers at the Korczowa–Krakovets crossing denied entry to a Ukrainian national on 23 July after discovering that he was subject to a court-ordered driving prohibition and an earlier Schengen-wide alert. The man, who was attempting to drive a commercial van into Poland, was handed over to local police and issued a five-year ban covering all 29 Schengen states. The incident is notable because Korczowa is one of the main freight arteries into south-eastern Poland, used heavily by automotive and FMCG supply chains servicing the Rzeszów and Kraków regions. Polish authorities said that since January the Bieszczady Border Guard district has refused entry to more than 5,100 foreigners, underscoring a tougher stance on repeat offenders and road-safety violations. For employers hiring third-country drivers or contracting Ukrainian hauliers, the case illustrates the importance of verifying that personnel have clean records across EU databases such as SIS II and EUCARIS.
