Buried in the 500-page package is a detailed update on the department’s Digital Platform Modernization (DPM) programme, a multibillion-dollar effort to replace the 20-year-old Global Case Management System and create a single online window for all clients. According to the new briefing, “Tranche 1” of DPM is already live for visitor-visa and passport-renewal clients, while “Tranche 2” will introduce a new Expression-of-Interest system for Express Entry later this fiscal year. Officials say the overhaul will enable advanced analytics, integrated AI and paperless “digital visas,” dramatically reducing manual file handling and outages. For employers and mobility managers, the message is clear: expect faster decision cycles, more automation for low-risk cases and greater data visibility for compliance audits. IRCC notes that over 123,000 applicants have already used the new online account, and that Express Entry clients will be migrated next—potentially shaving weeks off current application processing times. The binder also flags upcoming milestones, including the first release of a new case-management platform and scaled roll-out of online passports, both slated for 2027. Organisations that rely on bulk work-permit filings should begin updating internal workflows and employee communications now to leverage the new portals as soon as they launch. Practically, the shift means employers will need to train foreign workers on the consolidated portal, ensure digital copies of passports are ready for e-visa issuance and review privacy protocols for the expanded use of analytics and AI in adjudication.
