Fraport has announced that the forecourt P35 on the arrivals level of Terminal 1 will be closed from 00:00 on 16 September until 07:00 on 17 September for resurfacing works. During the seven-hour window, private vehicles collecting passengers must use the multi-storey car parks P2 or P3, where the minimum fee for 30 minutes is €4. The airport operator warns of potential traffic congestion on the airport ring road and recommends that chauffeurs and ride-hailing drivers add at least 15 minutes to pick-up schedules. Coach operators have been reassigned to the long-distance bus station near Terminal 1’s ‘The Squaire’ complex. While the closure is short, it lands during the peak of Germany’s autumn trade-fair season, when business-traveller volumes through Frankfurt are high. Corporates with pre-booked car-service vouchers should check whether additional parking charges can be reclaimed. Duty-travel managers may also wish to circulate alternative meeting-point maps—especially for non-German-speaking visitors. The works are part of Fraport’s larger €1.3 billion modernisation of Terminal 1 ahead of the Entry/Exit System’s full rollout and the 2027 opening of the EU Digital Identity Wallet, which will require upgraded biometric infrastructure at kerb-to-gate touchpoints.
