LOT Polish Airlines has unveiled its most ambitious expansion in five years, confirming on 23 September that it will launch Warsaw–Bangkok on 7 October 2026 and Warsaw–Hanoi on 31 March 2027. Bangkok will start with three weekly Boeing 787 flights, ramping up to six per week for the northern-winter schedule, while Hanoi will operate three times weekly year-round using 787-8s. The moves strengthen Warsaw Chopin Airport’s position as the leading Central-European gateway to Southeast Asia and give Polish corporates direct access to two of the region’s fastest-growing markets. Trade between Poland and Thailand exceeded USD 1.3 billion in 2025, while Vietnamese investment in Poland’s IT sector has tripled since 2023; both corridors generate significant expatriate and project traffic. LOT is also broadening its European network: seasonal Warsaw–Tromsø (twice weekly from 1 December 2026) will tap into growing demand for northern-lights tourism and offshore-energy travel, while a weekly Warsaw–Turin flight (16 January – 27 March 2027) targets winter-sports traffic. A new Gdańsk–Paris Orly service starting 5 April 2027 will support the Tri-City’s accelerating tech-outsourcing sector. The aggressive growth comes on the heels of LOT being named “Best Airline in Central Europe” at the 2026 Skytrax Awards and after a successful codeshare expansion with Singapore Airlines and Air India. Travel-management companies say the additional capacity will improve connection times for business travellers from Kraków and Wrocław via Warsaw, and could reduce average fares on key Asia routes by up to 12 per cent once competition responds. Employers should review their corporate fares contracts and update travel-approval matrices to reflect the new nonstop options. Assignees relocating from Southeast Asia will benefit from shorter journeys that avoid long Schengen layovers, simplifying visa-compliance logistics.
