The Directorate of Roads and Motorways (ŘSD) will launch the next construction phase of the Aviatická × Lipská grade-separated interchange on Sunday, 27 September, a project that will run until 30 November 2026 and directly affect road access to Václav Havel Airport. The press release, issued on 25 September, urges drivers to allow extra time and follow newly sign-posted detours. For traffic coming from central Prague, the primary access will now be via a reopened ramp on Lipská (I/7), with an option to branch off toward the town of Tuchoměřice. Travellers approaching from Tuchoměřice itself will be diverted onto the D7 motorway through the Kněževes junction, while motorists from Slaný can continue to use the existing ramp. Outbound traffic patterns remain largely unchanged, although journeys toward Tuchoměřice will require a detour or an on-the-spot U-turn near the Šestka shopping centre. The interchange upgrade is part of a larger CZK 2.1 billion modernisation plan aimed at smoothing bottlenecks on the key arteries feeding the airport’s Terminals 1 and 2. Once completed, the junction will add an extra lane in each direction and new smart-traffic sensors capable of relaying congestion data directly to the airport’s operations centre. For corporate mobility programmes, the timing could hardly be worse. September and October mark the peak of trade-fair season at Prague’s exhibition grounds; passenger volumes typically rise by 18 percent compared with the summer average. Ground-transport vendors expect that a routine 25-minute ride from the city centre may stretch to 45 minutes during rush hours over the next two months. Travel managers should update airport transfer vouchers, brief chauffeured car partners, and advise self-driving assignees to rely on real-time navigation apps that incorporate the temporary traffic patterns. Companies with frequent cargo movements through the airport’s forwarding zone should also verify delivery slots, as carrier access windows could shift at short notice.
