Manitoba’s Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) held its 281st Expression-of-Interest draw on 8 October and released the results on 10 October. The province issued 340 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs), 211 of which went to candidates employed in four teaching-related National Occupational Classification codes, while 46 targeted health-care occupations. Unlike standard draws, Manitoba set no overall ranking cut-off; selections were occupation-specific or tied to prior strategic recruitment. Eighty-three invitations went to candidates previously identified through employer services, francophone initiatives and regional community projects. Notably, 103 invitees held active Express Entry profiles, meaning they can now claim the 600-point provincial-nomination bonus once nominated, virtually guaranteeing an Invitation to Apply for permanent residence. For employers, the draw signals that Manitoba continues to use the PNP to plug chronic shortages in education and health care. School boards and regional health authorities can expect faster pathways to retain foreign workers already in position, while overseas applicants in those fields have a clearer rationale to target Manitoba over other provinces. Mobility practitioners should remind clients that an LAA is not a nomination; applicants must still file a full application and meet licensing requirements where occupations are regulated. However, the occupation-specific strategy suggests future draws will keep rewarding Manitoba work experience in priority sectors.
