Condor Launches Daily Berlin–Abu Dhabi Service, Opening New Long-Haul Gateway for German Capital
Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) celebrated a strategic boost to its long-haul map today as leisure carrier Condor inaugurated daily non-stop flights to Abu Dhabi. The 15 October 2026 launch, operated in codeshare with Etihad Airways, plugs the German capital directly into the Gulf mega-hub for the first time since 2020. Condor deploys a 180-seat Airbus A320neo on the six-hour sector, departing BER at 16:40 and arriving in the UAE at 01:00 next morning; return flights leave at 02:15 and land in Berlin at 07:15. The schedule will shift to a morning departure once winter time starts on 25 October. Beyond point-to-point demand—fuelled by Germany’s buoyant trade with the Gulf and Abu Dhabi’s growing conference scene—the link unlocks single-ticket connections to Etihad’s Asian, African and Australasian network, including Bangkok, Hanoi and Sydney. For corporates based in eastern Germany the route offers an alternative to transferring in Frankfurt or Munich, potentially shaving hours off itineraries. The move is also a statement of intent by Condor, historically focused on leisure traffic: partnering with a full-service Gulf carrier elevates its profile in the corporate travel segment, especially given the A320neo’s range efficiency on ‘thin’ long-haul. Etihad gains access to Germany’s startup-rich capital region without deploying its own wide-body capacity. Travel managers should update booking platforms to reflect the new one-stop options to Asia-Pacific, noting that Condor’s business-class equivalent on the A320neo is a Euro-style ‘blocked-middle-seat’ product rather than a flat bed. Passengers transiting in Abu Dhabi clear security in dedicated transfer channels, but a tight minimum connection time of 60 minutes still demands punctual inbound performance. With BER keen to lure more intercontinental services—Chicago and Delhi are rumoured for 2027—the success of Condor–Etihad’s partnership will be watched closely by alliance planners. Early load factors, according to Condor, are “well ahead of forecast,” buoyed by an autumn spike in Gulf corporate events and German winter-sun tourism.
