Low-cost carrier easyJet unveiled five additional routes for next summer on 15 October, and Spain is the chief beneficiary. The headline addition is a twice-weekly Southampton–Málaga service starting 1 May 2027, giving businesses in England’s south-coast tech corridor a direct link to Andalucía’s growing near-shore IT and life-science clusters. The airline is also beefing up capacity to mainland Spain through its wider network plan, which already included new Belfast–Alicante and Manchester–Murcia flights announced last month. easyJet’s UK Country Manager Kevin Doyle said the strategy aims to ‘provide customers with more choice and connectivity from their local airport’, a nod to strong demand for point-to-point leisure and SME business travel since pandemic restrictions ended. For corporate mobility managers, the Southampton route plugs a persistent gap in Spain access from the Solent region, cutting rail-and-transfer times by up to three hours compared with routing via London airports. Companies with expatriate staff in Málaga’s Andalusian Technology Park (PTA) or the International Mobility Hub at Marbella can now schedule Monday-to-Saturday rotations with hand-baggage-only fares starting at £53.48 one way. The announcement follows easyJet’s decision to establish a digital-innovation hub in Barcelona and signals continued confidence in Spanish demand despite rising airport fees. Forward schedules show the carrier offering 650 UK–Spain weekly frequencies in peak July–August 2027, 6.5 % more than summer 2026. Travel buyers should factor in seasonal fare increases and evaluate corporate-deal opportunities as inventory opens.
