Mobility-tech firm Joinup previewed the findings of its 2026 Corporate Mobility Barometer on 14 October, ahead of a formal launch event scheduled for 21 October in Madrid. The annual survey, based on input from more than 300 Spanish companies, tracks how organisations manage employee travel and commuting. This year’s edition reveals that 64 % of firms have introduced CO₂-budget caps for business trips, up from 42 % in 2025, and that one in three now links travel approvals to employee well-being metrics such as maximum weekly nights away. Nevertheless, only 27 % have integrated real-time emissions data into their online booking tools, pointing to an implementation gap. The report also finds that rail’s share of domestic business journeys has risen to 58 % thanks to new low-cost high-speed operators, while corporate adoption of Spain’s “youth summer travel passes” remained limited. Rising accommodation costs were cited as the top barrier to sustainable trip design, followed by fragmented data across ride-hailing, car-rental and public-transport platforms. For HR and mobility leaders the barometer offers benchmarking data and highlights quick wins: centralising emissions reporting, extending wellness allowances to frequent travellers and renegotiating rail-first policies with TMCs. Joinup CEO Elena Peyró will present detailed case studies from Inditex and Telefónica at next week’s event.
