Air France–KLM keeps 100-flight Canadian schedule intact despite fuel-supply turmoil
Amid global jet-fuel market volatility tied to refinery outages in the Gulf, Air France and KLM confirmed on 18 June that they will operate their full peak-summer timetable of 100 weekly flights from five Canadian cities—with no retroactive fuel surcharges on already-ticketed itineraries. The joint statement reassured corporate travel buyers that premium cabin fare stability remains in place through at least September.

While fares may be locked in, documentation requirements can still trip up last-minute trips; VisaHQ’s Canada-based platform (https://www.visahq.com/canada/) streamlines Schengen and other visa applications, offering real-time status updates and concierge support so that travellers boarding Air France or KLM can be confident their paperwork will be in order.

Air France will maintain up to 60 weekly frequencies to Paris-CDG from Montréal, Toronto, Vancouver, Ottawa and Québec City, while KLM will run 40 flights from Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary, Montréal and Edmonton to Amsterdam. Both carriers highlighted flexible-change policies that allow one free date change on Standard and Flex fares booked in Canada, a key selling point for project-based travellers heading to Europe or onward to Africa and the Middle East via the airlines’ respective hubs. From a mobility-tax perspective, employers should note that Amsterdam’s new SAF levy and France’s €30-per-segment eco-tax will still apply from 1 July; however, these are built into published fares and will not fluctuate with oil prices. Travel managers may wish to benchmark AF-KL’s stance against other trans-Atlantic carriers, several of which have filed YQ fuel surcharges for post-August departures. Locking in fall travel now could yield savings if others follow suit.
