The Flemish Government Gazette today published new salary thresholds for highly-skilled workers under the single-permit regime. As of 2 August 2026, employers must guarantee a gross annual remuneration of €47,500 – an increase of 4.6 % on last year’s figure. The Brussels and Walloon Regions are expected to adopt matching thresholds later this week. Officials say the rise reflects indexed wage agreements and sustained inflation, ensuring that the highly-qualified category continues to attract senior profiles rather than entry-level staff. Applications filed before 2 August will be assessed against the old €45,420 benchmark, provided the package remains unchanged. Global mobility managers should review pending offer letters and, where necessary, issue contract addenda before submitting files to the ‘E-Loket’ portal. Because the federal Immigration Office will not adjudicate residence until the regional work authorisation is approved, any salary mis-match will trigger a full re-start of the 90-day clock. For multinational companies operating intra-EU transfers, the new Flemish threshold remains competitive with the Netherlands (€50,600) but overtakes Germany’s Blue-Card floor (€45,300). Legal advisers note that the threshold for EU Blue Card applications in Belgium (currently €63,300) is unchanged.
