Corporate jets and turboprop operators using Kokkola-Pietarsaari Airport (EFKK) on Finland’s west coast have been advised to tanker fuel or pre-coordinate uplift after Finavia published a NOTAM restricting Jet A-1 availability between 3 and 8 August. Fuel will only be dispensed Monday 02:30-11:00, Tuesday 03:00-11:00, Wednesday 03:00-16:00, Thursday 08:00-16:00, and Friday 03:00-11:00; no fuel is available on Saturday. The temporary limitation is linked to preventive maintenance on the airport’s hydrant filtration system, accelerated after routine sampling detected trace particulate contamination. Finavia’s fuel services subsidiary says mobile bowsers have been deployed but capacity is roughly 30 percent of normal. Scheduled Saab 2000 and ATR passenger flights by DAT and Finnair have priority, leaving limited slots for ad-hoc business aviation. Energy and technology firms that frequently fly engineers into nearby industrial clusters in Kokkola and Pietarsaari are being urged to plan tech-stops in Vaasa or Oulu. Freight integrators that use niche freighter services for ship-spare parts should similarly account for potential operational payload penalties. While the fuel issue has no direct impact on border-control processing, delayed departures could cascade into missed immigration clearance windows at Helsinki for transit passengers. Operators must file accurate fuel-on-board figures in their flight plans; non-compliance could lead to extended ground holds.
