Cyprus Airways and Air France have deepened their cooperation with a new codeshare agreement that places Air France’s “AF” designator on Cyprus Airways’ six-weekly flights between Larnaca and Paris Charles-de-Gaulle. Although the deal entered into force on 7 July 2026, both carriers chose 22 September to publicly unveil the partnership and highlight early booking data, which show seat factors averaging 86 % during the peak summer season. For Cypriot business travellers and internationally-based executives, the significance of the agreement lies in one-stop global reach: Paris-CDG is Air France–KLM’s primary long-haul hub, offering onward connections to more than 170 destinations in the Americas, Africa and Asia-Pacific. Travellers can now book a single ticket that combines Cyprus Airways’ A220 service with Air France long-haul segments, while bags are through-checked and frequent-flyer miles are credited across both carriers’ programmes. The tie-up also includes an interline arrangement covering Larnaca–Athens and Larnaca–Milan flights, opening additional one-stop routings via those cities. According to the airlines, the combined network adds over 20 new city-pairs that can now be ticketed on a single PNR, a boon for multinational companies with regional HQs in Cyprus that need reliable links to corporate hubs such as New York, São Paulo and Singapore. From a regulatory standpoint, the agreement supports Cyprus’ long-term strategy of positioning Larnaca as an Eastern-Mediterranean connector. It may also strengthen the island’s case for eventual Schengen accession by demonstrating enhanced external connectivity and compliance with EU aviation safety and consumer-protection rules. Business-travel managers are advised to review travel-policy inventories, as the new codeshare may offer lower-fare buckets and additional corporate-contract opportunities. Looking ahead, the carriers hinted at a possible expansion to year-round daily service if demand holds. Both airlines will monitor the performance of the winter schedule before submitting slot requests for summer 2027.
