The Deputy Ministry of Migration and International Protection has alerted residents and employers that all digital services requiring CY Login authentication—including online residence-permit renewals, appointment bookings and payment portals—will be offline from 17:00 on Friday 25 September until 18:00 on Saturday 26 September due to scheduled maintenance. The blackout affects the full suite of e-migration services introduced earlier this year, such as the fast-track ‘eMEU’ system for third-country nationals and the dashboard used by corporate HR departments to monitor bulk permit applications. Paper submissions at district Aliens & Immigration offices will proceed as normal, but officials warn that counter queues may lengthen as applicants who missed the memo turn up in person. For companies with staff whose permits expire before the end of the month, the ministry advises submitting renewal requests no later than noon on 25 September to avoid late-fee penalties. Payment confirmations generated before the shutdown will remain valid; however, applications saved in ‘draft’ status will have to be re-entered if not completed beforehand. The scheduled outage is part of a broader upgrade that will migrate the CY Login platform to the government’s new cloud infrastructure and introduce two-factor authentication. From next week, users will be able to log in via a mobile-ID app rather than the existing SMS OTP, aligning Cyprus with EU eIDAS standards ahead of its planned Schengen-area entry in 2027. HR and mobility teams are encouraged to circulate the downtime notice to expatriate employees and to stagger application submissions to minimise bottlenecks immediately after services resume. The ministry says further maintenance windows will be announced at least one week in advance via its website and social-media channels.
