Prague’s city hall announced on 14 February that a completely rewritten version of its flagship mobility app—PID Lítačka 2.0—will launch in early 2027, with beta testing to begin this autumn. Developed by municipal IT arm Operátor ICT, the new platform promises a cloud-native back-end, dark-mode UI and multilingual support beyond the current Czech-English-Ukrainian triad.
Key features include real-time carriage recommendations that tell metro riders exactly where to stand for the fastest transfers, integrated payment for on-street EV charging, and the ability to buy and activate multiple tickets simultaneously—essential for corporate travel managers booking groups. A redesigned API will also let third-party trip-planners pull live occupancy data from trams and buses, paving the way for MaaS bundling with bike-share and car-share providers.

Deputy Mayor Jaromír Beránek said the overhaul became urgent as daily users exceeded 200,000 and connection searches topped 109 million last year. The city expects the upgrade to save CZK 20 million annually in maintenance costs by consolidating legacy servers into a single cloud environment.
