São Paulo’s Guarulhos International Airport (GRUAirport) has alerted logistics operators that the federal Siscomex Single Window will be offline from 25 to 27 July for system upgrades. The notice, circulated via SINDASP Circular CAD 258/26 and published on 23 July, follows a joint decision by Receita Federal and the airport concessionaire to migrate servers to a new data centre. Siscomex handles import declarations, temporary-entry permits for professional equipment and—crucially for mobility teams—the electronic Visa-on-Arrival waiver (VIVIS) used by technicians entering under the 90-day business-visitor category. During the outage airlines will issue manual landing clearance forms and customs brokers will have to submit paper dossiers, a procedure that can add two to four hours to arrival processing. Business travellers transiting with sensitive gear (media crews, oil-and-gas engineers, event technicians) face the highest risk of delay. Mobility managers should advise travellers to carry printed copies of air waybills, ATA carnets and proof of onward tickets. Non-resident crew repositioning via GRU should plan longer layovers or route through Rio-Galeão, whose local customs system is unaffected. SINDASP recommends front-loading filings: documents uploaded by 18:00 BRT on 24 July will be pre-cleared before shutdown. Companies using bonded-warehouse storage can request exceptional release after presenting a stamped letter of responsibility, but capacity is limited. On the upside, Receita Federal says the upgrade will slash response times by 30 % once live and pave the way for a long-promised API that will let employers integrate travel-authorisation data directly into HR mobility platforms—expected beta release in November. Until then, a back-to-basics weekend lies ahead for Brazil’s busiest international gateway.
