The Migrant Detention Review Board meets on 29 July; if it recommends release, officials could attach conditions such as regular reporting and proof of income. Should deportation proceed, Youssef would face a five-year re-entry ban, a scenario critics call disproportionate and contrary to EU proportionality principles.
