Last year the department processed 95.2 million passengers and 86.7 million bags while maintaining 100 percent compliance with ICAO security audits. Officials say the AI layer will enable the airport to handle anticipated traffic growth toward 120 million passengers a year without proportionate increases in frontline staff. For global-mobility leaders the upgrades promise faster turn-arounds and reduced missed-connection risk—critical for assignees transiting DXB’s high-frequency bank of late-night long-haul departures. Corporates that embed the airport’s real-time queue data into travel-management apps can start nudging travellers toward optimal check-in windows, reducing dwell times and lounge-capacity crunches. The technology push is matched by a people strategy: 4,542 officers underwent specialised training in 2025, helping the department log a 96 percent employee-happiness score. Industry observers note that motivated, tech-literate staff are essential to reap AI benefits; poorly trained users can overload systems with false alerts, negating efficiency gains. Airport analysts see Dubai’s AI roadmap as a bell-wether for the wider Gulf. Abu Dhabi’s Midfield Terminal and Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea Airport are both trialling similar machine-vision platforms, pointing to a regional race for the fastest, most seamless border-control experience. The stakes are high: consultancy InterVistas estimates each minute saved in average processing time can unlock US$1 billion in additional aviation-enabled GDP over a decade.
