Wave of international carriers confirms return to UAE routes from October

After months of capacity reductions linked to regional air-space disruptions, a fresh cohort of international airlines has pencilled in October and November comeback dates for UAE services. An industry round-up published on 23 September lists Air Astana, Wizz Air, Lufthansa, British Airways, SWISS and Austrian Airlines among the carriers reopening Dubai and Abu Dhabi routes, some as early as 1 October. Dubai International Airport says airline seat supply has already bounced back to 84 percent of pre-conflict levels, but the next wave of European and Asian resumptions could push the hub past 90 percent by year-end. Wizz Air alone plans 32 weekly flights restarting on 25 October, while Lufthansa Group airlines aim to operate up to 36 weekly rotations by mid-November. Business-class heavyweights such as British Airways and Singapore Airlines are likewise slated to restore daily frequencies in time for the northern-winter corporate-travel peak. For mobility managers the impending returns expand choice and price competitiveness on key corridors—especially Frankfurt, Munich, London and Zurich—which serve as gateways for intra-Europe assignee movements. HR teams coordinating year-end moves should revisit travel policies to ensure fare caps reflect the wider inventory and to update travellers on reinstated through-check luggage agreements. The rebound is also a shot in the arm for trade-show organisers. Events such as GITEX Global and COP28 follow-up forums expect higher in-person attendance now that one-stop itineraries via European hubs are re-established. However, schedule volatility remains: Cathay Pacific and Finnair have pushed their Dubai returns into late Q4 or 2027, underscoring the need for contingency booking strategies. Dubai Airports CEO Paul Griffiths said the recovery path hinges on sustained geopolitical stability and the phased reopening of constrained air corridors. He urged airlines to coordinate closely with UAE authorities to balance demand, slot allocations and ground-handling resources during the ramp-up.
