Poland’s Air Navigation Services Agency (PANSA) has activated a temporary reserved area (TRA) designated EPTR489 over Wyskoki, approximately 100 km south-west of Warsaw FIR centre, for unmanned-aircraft activity from 06:00 to 22:00 local time on Sunday, 27 September. According to NOTAM D4969/26, flights from the surface up to 3 000 ft AMSL are restricted unless prior permission (PPR) is obtained from the organiser and reflected in the daily Airspace Use Plan. The TRA has been active on selected weekends since 1 August as part of large-scale UAV test flights funded by the EU’s SESAR Joint Undertaking. While the vertical limits sit below most commercial jet paths, the block overlaps with several VFR itineraries used by corporate helicopters, private pilots and air-ambulance operators shuttling executives between Łódź, Piotrków Trybunalski and Warsaw-Chopin Airport. PANSA has issued supplementary guidance advising general-aviation crews to file flight plans at least two hours in advance and to maintain continuous listening watch on 126.300 MHz when transiting within 5 NM of the area. For multinational companies flying drones for industrial inspection or agricultural mapping, the activation offers a rare slot of segregated airspace in which BVLOS (beyond-visual-line-of-sight) missions can be conducted legally. However, enterprise operators must still register each UAV in the national UAS Traffic Management (UTM) portal and ensure remote-ID beacons are operational. Failure to comply can result in fines up to PLN 15 000 and the immediate grounding of aircraft. Business-travel departments are therefore urged to cross-check charter-helicopter routings and to brief travellers using private aviation on the potential for last-minute reroutes or holding patterns near the restricted zone.
