Two separate four-hour walkouts hit local public-transport networks in Rome and Savona on Monday, 19 October 2026, after unions failed to reach agreement with operators on rosters and wage alignment. • In Rome, USB Lavoro Privato called drivers at Bus International Service off the job from 08:30 to 12:30. The company runs airport shuttles and cross-city coach links used heavily by business travellers arriving at Fiumicino. • In Savona, a coalition of six confederations (CGIL, CISL, UIL, UGL, FAISA-CISAL, SIAL Cobas) stopped services at TPL Linea from 10:15 to 14:15, affecting commuter routes that feed the port and local shipyards. Operational impact. Rome’s airport link operated at roughly 40 % capacity; Bus International laid on contingency coaches but warned of longer headways. In Savona, the port authority coordinated with taxi cooperatives to divert cruise-terminal passengers to Genoa. No minimum-service guarantee (servizi minimi) applies to bus strikes shorter than four hours, so cancellations were total on affected lines. What employers should do. Staff flying into Fiumicino during the morning window should pre-book private transfers or use the Leonardo Express rail link. Companies with assignees at the Savona ship-repair cluster should confirm alternative transport, as the walkout coincided with heavy rain and limited ride-hailing availability. The disputes are local, but they foreshadow wider unrest in the sector as national bargaining opens in November.
