Operational managers blamed a perfect storm: unusually high sick-leave rates among cabin crews, cascading aircraft rotations out of congested UK and German airspace, and stress on ground-handling contractors already grappling with labour shortages. The French civil-aviation authority, DGAC, urged travellers to “re-check flight status right up to departure” and noted that EU 261 compensation may apply where the cause is within an airline’s control. For mobility teams, the ripple effects extend well beyond France. Many multinationals base regional meetings on onward flights from Paris to African and Middle-Eastern markets; crew-hours resets meant some onward sectors departed without connecting passengers. Several HR departments reported shifting staff to high-speed rail and allowing flexible start dates for assignments beginning this week. While airlines are drafting contingency schedules, analysts warn that staffing gaps and record summer demand could make rolling cancellations a weekly feature until mid-August. Corporate-travel buyers should therefore monitor real-time disruption dashboards and ensure travellers understand the refund or re-routing options available under French and EU consumer-protection rules.
