Warsaw Chopin Airport posts record traffic ahead of CPK era
In an update posted late on 9 July 2026, the daily Rzeczpospolita reported that Warsaw Chopin Airport closed the 2025 financial year with an all-time high of 24.1 million passengers—up 13 % on 2024—and revenues of PLN 1.77 billion (€390 million). The management of state-owned operator PPL says the robust figures provide a solid springboard for building a transfer-hub model before long-haul operations shift to the new Central Communication Port (CPK) in the early 2030s. International traffic dominated, accounting for 22.5 million travellers, of whom 15.8 million flew within Schengen and 8.3 million beyond. Cargo volumes also hit a record 137 000 tonnes. With 46 airlines serving 203 destinations, Chopin ran near capacity for much of the year, handling 200 958 aircraft movements. For corporate travel buyers the numbers confirm tight slot availability in Warsaw, suggesting that premium-hour departures may remain expensive until CPK relieves pressure.

At the same time, organisations moving staff through Chopin will want to make visa procurement as frictionless as possible. VisaHQ’s dedicated Poland portal streamlines Schengen and other visa applications online, offers live status tracking and expert support, and can coordinate group requests—making sure the paperwork keeps pace with those hard-won premium-hour flight bookings.

PPL has launched tenders to expand the south pier and multi-storey car park and is installing CT X-ray scanners to speed security checks—a boon for frequent flyers. The airport’s growth underpins Poland’s attractiveness as a regional HQ location: a larger route map improves connectivity for multinationals operating shared-service centres in Kraków, Łódź and Poznań. Travel managers should, however, plan for possible crowding during the 2026 summer-peak; outbound Schengen queues have occasionally topped 25 minutes. Longer term, PPL’s integrated 2025–2035 strategy aims to turn Chopin into a feeder hub for CPK, ensuring a seamless transition when the mega-airport opens. Companies considering Polish expansion should monitor slot-allocation policy to secure future capacity.
