Emirates will remove Airbus A380 service from three non-stop routes as the IATA winter timetable starts on 25 October, according to a 23 October bulletin on industry site Hospitality Career Profile. The carrier has not published a formal press release, but slot filings indicate that the super-jumbo will exit the Dubai–Taipei, Dubai–Amsterdam and Dubai–London Gatwick rotations for at least part of the season, with Boeing 777-300ERs taking over. The shift reflects seasonal demand swings and aims to free up ultra-high-capacity aircraft for trunk routes such as Sydney and Manchester, where forward bookings remain strong. For corporate mobility planners, the change means fewer premium seats per flight and altered departure times, as the 777’s smaller First and Business cabins are re-timed to maximise connections at Dubai International. Travel-policy experts warn of potential cost inflation: the A380’s 76 lie-flat Business Class seats typically suppress prices through inventory depth, while the 777-300ER offers only 42. Organisations with block-seat agreements should reconfirm allocations, especially for December conference travel. Passengers booked in First or Business on the affected flights will be auto-protected on the 777, but may lose the on-board shower-spa and lounge amenities unique to the A380. Emirates is notifying travellers via email and advising those who booked through agencies to contact their travel management company for re-ticketing options.
