Eurostar’s live-updates portal recorded a string of service alerts on 11 October pointing to significant engineering works near Paris Gare du Nord that will slash weekend frequencies between London and Paris over five separate weekends from October to December. The same bulletin logged multiple cascading delays on 11 October caused by technical issues and congestion at Brussels-Midi and Amsterdam Centraal. Although the alert was removed from the homepage after midnight, a deeper link confirms that trains 9015 and 9040 were briefly at risk of cancellation before being reinstated. Eurostar states that “reduced weekend timetables” will be published at least ten days in advance, but corporate bookers report that inventory for key Friday-evening departures has already tightened, with semi-flex fares selling out first. The engineering works coincide with the cross-Channel leisure peak and with French transport strikes, increasing the likelihood of modal shifts that could overrun available rail capacity. Eurostar says ticket checks will continue to close 30 minutes before departure (15 minutes for Premier), and that passengers should plan extra buffer time for EES biometric enrolment once that system goes live at Gare du Nord later this month. Businesses relying on same-day London–Paris meetings should verify whether alternative departures (via Lille or Brussels) remain feasible and consider overnight stays until the works conclude. Those running time-critical deliveries through Eurostar’s courier service should similarly build redundancy into schedules.
