Finland’s Aeronautical Information Service (AIS) released an updated Helsinki FIR bulletin on 10 October 2026 highlighting operational changes at Helsinki-Vantaa (EFHK) and several regional airports. The most consequential notice is a ‘Trigger NOTAM’ connected to AIRAC amendment 005/2026, in force until 14 October, which alters the visual docking and parking-guidance system and revises stand-allocation remarks. In practice, aircraft arriving at the airport may be assigned to different gates than usual, and airlines have been advised to brief crews on revised lead-in lines and stop positions. In addition, a temporary restricted airspace—EFR1853—covering a 650-metre radius near coordinates 60°08'50" N, 24°55'20" E remains active until 19:00 local time on 10 October. The Civil Aviation Authority has not specified the purpose of the restriction, but industry sources point to drone-countermeasure testing linked to recent incursions. General-aviation and corporate-jet operators must file routes that avoid the zone or risk delays. Away from Helsinki, new NOTAMs also close Taxiway J and the Patria apron at Halli Airport between 12-16 October, while Ivalo and Joensuu airports report adjusted tower hours and temporary fuel limitations. The flurry of notices coincides with Finland’s autumn-holiday peak (8-25 October) when passenger volumes surge by up to 20 %. Finavia, the airport operator, is recommending travellers arrive at least 2½ hours before departure. For business-travel coordinators, the key takeaway is to re-confirm slot times for flights into EFHK through 14 October and monitor stand assignments, as last-minute bussing from remote stands could lengthen connection times. Cargo shippers using Halli should factor in taxiway closures, while VIP operators should verify fuel availability at Joensuu. Given the short validity period of these NOTAMs, further updates are likely; subscribing to AIS bulletins or a flight-planning platform is advisable.
