The zones, located in North Karelia and Central Ostrobothnia, will host beyond-visual-line-of-sight unmanned-aircraft operations and live-fire defence drills. Although the areas top out at 2 700 ft MSL, Fintraffic warns that NOTAM lead-times may be shorter than the usual seven days, meaning business-aviation operators and drone service providers must review flight-planning systems daily. Commercial carriers are unlikely to be rerouted, but corporate jets on flexible routings could face minor detours adding 5–10 minutes to flight times. For companies moving executives or time-critical cargo by helicopter to remote project sites, the restrictions could necessitate alternative landing zones or higher cruising altitudes. Mobility managers should circulate the NOTAM coordinates to flight departments and logistics vendors and ensure on-board navigation databases are updated. The airspace measures form part of Finland’s stepped-up military training schedule since joining NATO in 2024. Observers expect a steady increase in last-minute airspace reservations over the next 18 months as joint UAV experiments expand, potentially complicating aerial survey work and air-taxi trials planned by Finnish tech start-ups.
