Borders Under Strain: 60-Hour Wait Reported at Poland–Belarus Koroszczyn/Kozlovichi Crossing
Polish truck drivers faced extreme delays on 8 October 2026 as live data from the crowdsourced platform KolejkaNaGranicy.pl showed an unprecedented 60 hours 45 minutes waiting time to enter Poland at the Koroszczyn–Kozlovichi freight crossing with Belarus. Exports leaving Poland towards Belarus queued for nearly three hours, while neighbouring Terespol registered delays of up to 75 minutes. The bottleneck coincides with tightened customs inspections introduced on 1 October after Warsaw’s extended internal Schengen controls with Germany and Lithuania pushed some irregular movements eastwards. Border Guard officials also attribute the jam to a seasonal spike in agricultural imports from Belarus and mandatory veterinary checks on live-animal consignments. Logistics providers servicing Polish factories in the Lublin and Mazovia regions warn that prolonged holdups threaten just-in-time supply chains, particularly for automotive sub-assemblies destined for EU markets. Several forwarders have already activated contingency routings via the Poland–Lithuania corridor, but capacity there is limited and subject to random inspections. Companies with mobile employees driving the route are advised to schedule departures between 01:00 and 05:00—historically the quietest window—and to equip drivers with Schengen accommodation letters should queues spill into second workdays. Under EU Regulation 561/2006, rest-period violations incur fines of up to €2 000 per driver, making advance planning essential. Policy analysts note that the live-queue portal, which aggregates Border Guard feeds and driver-submitted GPS pings, has become an indispensable real-time tool for corporate mobility and travel-risk teams. The Ministry of Infrastructure is considering a pilot ‘green lane’ for authorised economic operators, but no launch date has been confirmed.
