Real-time tracker Nakordoni.eu recorded an eye-watering **147 h 45 min** inbound wait for trucks heading into Poland at Koroszczyn–Kozlovichi on the evening of 22 October – the worst figure on the entire Poland–Belarus frontier. Outbound traffic fared slightly better at 1 h 25 min, but exporters warn that even short disruptions on the Belarusian side can cascade into multi-day holds for EU-bound cargo. The bottleneck follows a pattern seen since Minsk tightened veterinary and phytosanitary checks this summer, ostensibly for “bio-security” reasons. Polish freight forwarders say the real motive is political: Belarus continues to slow EU traffic in retaliation for sanctions, trapping hundreds of EU-registered trailers at once. Long queues create two immediate risks for logistics managers. First, perishable goods may spoil despite temperature-controlled trailers, jeopardising supply contracts. Second, drivers exceed legal working-time limits, forcing operators either to hire relief crews or absorb fines for hours-of-service violations. Companies shipping through Belarus should keep close tabs on daily queue dashboards, pre-clear veterinary paperwork, and consider rerouting via Latvia or Lithuania where possible. For time-critical loads, rail remains an option, though capacity is limited and rates have risen 18 % year-on-year. Polish customs have increased mobile X-ray teams at Koroszczyn to speed inbound checks, but with the choke point on the Belarusian side, relief will depend on Minsk’s willingness to cooperate – something few analysts expect before next spring.
