First, employers bringing non-EU assignees to France should anticipate longer lead times for background checks and should ensure that assignees carry full documentation when crossing the external Schengen frontier, as on-arrival screening will be more exhaustive. Second, companies that rely on posted workers liable to short-notice intra-Schengen travel must adjust contingency plans: anyone refused entry during the initial screening will be handed back to the carrier for immediate removal. French NGOs have voiced concern over accommodation capacity in border-procedure zones, but the government insists it has budgeted for an extra 1,200 places and recruited 450 case officers. Officials argue the compressed timelines will deter irregular crossings, freeing up resources for legal labour-migration pathways due to be announced later this year.
