Corporate travel in China is getting an AI upgrade. At the Feishu Infinite Future Conference this week, Trip.com Group’s corporate arm Trip.Biz demonstrated a deep integration with ByteDance’s new Doubao Work productivity suite, allowing employees to book compliant flights and hotels through a chat interface rather than a standalone travel portal. Trip.Biz says the workflow compresses a typical 10-step, 15-minute booking process into three steps that can be completed in under two minutes. The AI agent automatically references a company’s travel policy, the traveller’s historical preferences and live inventory to recommend an itinerary, drastically reducing out-of-policy bookings and manual approvals. For mobility managers, the development signals a shift towards conversational interfaces and policy-aware automation. Because Doubao Work already handles HR and reimbursement workflows, travel data will feed directly into expense reports and duty-of-care dashboards, enhancing visibility over cross-border staff movements. Early adopters include several Shenzhen-based hardware makers whose engineers travel frequently between Guangdong and Shanghai. Analysts note that Chinese travel-tech firms are leap-frogging legacy global distribution systems by building AI onto super-app ecosystems. If successful, similar integrations with WeChat Work or DingTalk could follow, making AI-first booking the new norm for China-incorporated multinationals.
