Eurostar cancels services and warns of French-network delays 17–20 September
Eurostar has issued an operational bulletin cancelling five cross-Channel trains—numbers 9116, 9145, 9060, 9022 and 9043—between 17 and 20 September and cautioning that additional services may run up to 30 minutes late on the French network. The alert, time-stamped 06:54 on 18 September, attributes the disruption to daytime track-renewal works in several French rail corridors as well as knock-on effects from earlier engineering overruns in Belgium. Business travellers between London, Paris, Brussels and Amsterdam face the highest risk of schedule changes. Eurostar recommends arriving at Paris-Gare-du-Nord 30 minutes before departure for Standard and Plus classes and 15 minutes for Premier; gates will close punctually despite any advertised delay. Club Eurostar and Voyageur accounts report that affected passengers are being rebooked automatically onto the next available train or offered e-vouchers valid for 12 months. For corporate mobility planners, the timing is awkward: Monday 21 September marks the start of a peak conference week in both London and Paris. Travel-management companies are advising clients to keep meetings virtual or purchase flexible airline tickets as a back-up. Shippers using Eurostar’s unaccompanied-parcel service have also been warned of possible customs-cut-off breaches if trains miss Channel-Tunnel freight slots. Eurostar says it will deploy standby crews and locomotives in London and Lille to “fire-fight” cascading delays, but concedes that single-line working near Arras leaves little slack in the timetable. The operator expects normal service to resume on Tuesday, 21 September, once SNCF Réseau lifts speed restrictions on the renewed track sections. Travellers who must cross the Channel during the affected window should download the Eurostar app for push-alerts and consider booking daytime rather than evening departures, when rolling delays tend to accumulate.
