Industry outlet Aviation.Direct reports that Lufthansa has loaded flight numbers for its inaugural Airbus A350-1000, registration D-AIFA, which will be based in Munich after delivery in mid-November 2026. Scheduled passenger service begins 3 December on the high-yield Tokyo-Haneda route, with ad-hoc deployments to Shanghai and Singapore through early January. The -1000 variant debuts the full Allegris suite, including Lufthansa’s long-awaited enclosed First-Class suites and an expanded Premium Economy cabin. The 300-seat layout represents a 40 percent jump in premium-revenue seats versus the A350-900, reflecting sustained demand from German exporters for front-cabin capacity on Asia trunk routes. For mobility managers, the new aircraft brings more upgrade inventory and a soft-product leap: Wi-Fi speeds triple to 75 Mbps per device, and an industry-first on-board privacy door in Business Class improves rest quality on 12-hour sectors—-a compliance plus where duty-of-care policies mandate lie-flat beds. Ground operations at Munich are already testing dual-jet-bridge boarding to keep turn-times at 90 minutes. Lufthansa Technik advises that spare-parts logistics for the Rolls-Royce Trent XWB-97 engines are in place, mitigating the teething-issues that dogged earlier A350-900 entries. Travel buyers should note that initial flights are pricing at a modest 8 percent premium over the -900; once a second airframe arrives in Q2 2027, parity is expected. Corporates with “lowest logical fare” policies may therefore prefer departures after January where fleet rotation evens out.
