Low-cost carrier HK Express has issued an important travel alert notifying passengers that its website, mobile app and WeChat mini-program will be offline from 23:00 HKT on 16 September until 03:00 HKT on 17 September for a planned system upgrade. Flight operations will continue as normal, but online booking, check-in and refund functions will be unavailable. The airline recommends that travellers complete web check-in in advance, screenshot boarding passes and finalise any flight changes or ancillary purchases before the blackout window. Customer-service hotlines will remain open from 08:00 to 20:00 HKT, with an online enquiry form available outside those hours. For mobility managers moving assignees on tight itineraries, the outage could disrupt last-minute schedule tweaks or seat assignments. Companies should advise travellers to download boarding passes and arrive at the airport three hours early to mitigate risks. Travel-management companies may need to process ticket changes via global distribution systems instead of the airline portal during the downtime. The upgrade underscores the carrier’s push to improve digital resilience following several high-profile outage incidents in 2025. HK Express says the new platform will support faster payment gateways and enhanced loyalty integration with Cathay Group systems.
