From 17 September through 10 October 2026, travellers using Goa’s Dabolim airport—and 20 other AAI-managed hubs—will experience a focused customer-service blitz as the Airports Authority of India kicks off its ‘Yatri Sewa Abhiyan’. The 25-day drive, announced via a Ministry of Civil Aviation press release on 16 September, seeks to improve assistance for vulnerable passengers, upgrade signage, bolster cleanliness and speed up grievance redressal during India’s festive travel surge. Key elements include ‘First Flyer Helpdesks’ for novices, priority escorts for seniors and passengers with reduced mobility, and live service-quality audits that feed into a real-time dashboard monitored by AAI headquarters. Terminal managers are tasked with trialling digital way-finding tools, expanding seating by at least 10 %, and ensuring water refill stations are operational round the clock. Cultural programmes and local art displays will run at peak arrival waves to create what organisers call a “memorable first impression of India”. The campaign will be personally reviewed by Civil Aviation Minister K. Rammohan Naidu, who plans spot inspections on opening day, World Tourism Day (27 September), Gandhi Jayanti (2 October) and closing day. His office indicated that successful pilots—such as the ‘Service with Smile’ volunteer corps—could become permanent fixtures and be replicated at public-private-partner airports like Delhi IGI and Bengaluru Kempegowda. For companies moving talent or equipment through Indian airports, the initiative should translate into shorter kerb-to-gate times and more predictable transit for time-critical cargo that travels in passenger bellies. Travel buyers should flag the dates, however; launch-day ceremonies may cause landside congestion, and additional security drills are expected ahead of ministerial visits.
