Hong Kong flag carrier Cathay Pacific has informed customers that all account-related digital services—including member log-in, mileage redemption and profile updates—will be unavailable on 22 September 2026 from 02:00 to 03:30 HKT due to scheduled system maintenance. The notice, posted at 17:30 on 21 September, affects both desktop and mobile-app channels. Although flight operations will not be interrupted, passengers departing overnight are advised to download boarding passes in advance and carry printed copies of any upgrade confirmations. Travel-management companies (TMCs) say the downtime coincides with the airline’s late-night Europe departures and could complicate last-minute seat changes or payment for excess baggage. The upgrade is part of Cathay’s multi-year digital-first roadmap, which aims to integrate its Marco Polo Club frequent-flyer and Cathay membership programmes onto a unified cloud platform. Similar outages earlier this year passed without incident, but today’s notice explicitly warns that call-centre support may also be limited as back-end databases are migrated. Corporate mobility teams should alert travellers on CX flight series between 256 and 881 and encourage the use of airline chatbots or airport kiosks if the mobile app fails to load. Given Hong Kong International Airport’s largely self-service check-in environment, printing or downloading boarding passes before arriving at the terminal remains best practice during scheduled IT work.
