The Canadian Transportation Agency (CTA) has advised that its online complaint and adjudication portals will be intermittently unavailable on 14 October 2026 between 18:00 and 22:00 ET due to scheduled maintenance. During the outage, passengers will be unable to file new claims related to flight delays, cancellations or accessibility issues, and airlines will not be able to upload evidence for active cases. The timing overlaps with peak evening travel hours at major hubs such as Toronto Pearson and Vancouver International. For corporate travel teams logging mass claims following summer disruption, the outage may push filing deadlines if limitation periods expire today. The CTA says claimants can preserve filing dates by emailing a brief notice of intent and submitting full documentation once systems are restored. Airlines, already grappling with record complaint volumes since the 2025 Air Passenger Protection Regulations amendments, have welcomed the advance notice but warn that batch uploads will cause a backlog when the portal reopens. Travellers with urgent medical or accessibility-related issues are instructed to phone the CTA’s call centre, which will remain operational. The agency plans a phased upgrade of its digital infrastructure through 2027 to accommodate a projected doubling of complaint submissions.
